This course enhances the listening, speaking, reading, and writing abilities of ELSIS students for both personal and academic needs. Students will engage in organized conversations about various familiar and new themes; read multiple books written or modified for ELSIS learners; increase their understanding of English grammatical structures and sentence patterns; and connect English sentences to produce paragraphs. Additionally, the course assists students in their ongoing transition to the local education system by increasing their awareness of the variety found in their new province and nation.
The program is split into three levels. You are free to choose to start with any group as per your previous language fluency and previous experience.

Module Name: Reading and Writing -Intermediate
This reading and writing module are designed for students in the intermediate level who are not native English speakers. Students read about themes that are personally relevant to them and the society in which they live and improve their writing abilities by studying paragraph and essay form. The course grading places a premium on students’ ability to apply new vocabulary and grammatical structures to writing assignments. Students must show their abilities through a variety of hands-on activities.

Module Name: Speaking and Listening -Intermediate
This module is intended for intermediate students who are not native English speakers. Students read about themes that are personally relevant to them and the society in which they live while also honing their writing abilities via the study of paragraph and essay construction. The course grading places a premium on applying new vocabulary and grammatical structures to written assignments.

Module Name: Grammar Intermediate
This grammar module is intended for intermediate students who are not native English speakers. In the lecture, learners experience grammar in the setting of personally meaningful issues to them and the world in which they live. The course assessment places a high priority on writing with grammatical structures. The course’s objective is to introduce students to progressively tricky grammar ideas and use them in speaking and writing tasks.

Module Name: Discussion in the Group
One of the most challenging aspects of learning English is socializing and adjusting to Canadian culture. With this in mind, program participants will engage in small groups of foreign and Canadian students to discuss various themes. Students may hone their public speaking methods, learn to discuss and defend their points of view, and increase their speaking self-confidence with the supervision and support of the language instructor. Certain classes may be self-taught, enabling learners to connect in a real-world setting. This element of the program’s objective is to build students’ confidence when participating in more meaningful social contexts within Canadian culture.

Module Name: Pronunciation Intermediate
This pronunciation course is designed for intermediate students who aren’t native English speakers. Students practice articulation in the classroom to improve their ability to communicate clearly. The course evaluation places a premium on the production of vowel and consonant sounds and the application of emphasis, rhythm, and tone following speaking English and speech patterns. The course’s objective is to instill in pupils an appreciation for proper pronunciation to improve their overall communication efficiency in English.
