Admission criteria for international students

Step 1 - Select the right program

At Beta College of Business and Technology, we have a range of programs in various categories like Computerized Accounting, Automation Technology, Accounting and Payroll and many more.

If you are facing a difficulty in finalizing the program, our counsellors are always available for support and guidance.

You need a PAL before you apply.
All new international students are required to submit a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) with their study permit application. Currently, IRCC has not allocated PALs to BETA College.

Step 2 - Minimum Eligibility

At Beta College, entrance requirements are program-specific. Please check the respective program page for more information or write to the college admissions office at info@betacollege.ca to check the latest admissions criteria.

English Proficiency

The language of instruction at Beta College is English. Below are the only English Language Proficiency tests accepted by Beta College. (Scores are generic and may differ from program to program. Check with admissions before enrolling.)

IELTS (Academic)

6.0 Overall, with a minimum of 5.5 in any four modules. (Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening); results valid for two years.

CAEL – Canadian Academic English Language

60 overall with no component score below 50; valid for two years.

CAE – Cambridge Advanced English (C1 & C2)

169 overall, with a minimum score of 162 in each component. Valid for two years.

PTE – Pearson Test of English Academic

58 overall valid for two years.

TOEFL – Test of English as a Foreign Language

A minimum score of 79 for the Internet-based test (iBT), with test results within the last two years.

Step 3 - Payment

Once you meet with minimum eligibility criteria, the education consultant of the student will guide you through the payment plan. At least 25% of the total program fee must be paid to secure a seat in any of the programs. The fee paid would be in Canadian currency.

Step 4 - Conditional Offer Letter

After clearing the eligibility criteria, the students have to fill the application form. Once it gets submitted, our reviewing team will see the online application and check whether the student is meeting the minimum requirement or not after the conditional offer letter is issued.

Step 5 - Final Letter of Acceptance

After satisfying all criteria, the student can get a final offer letter after paying 25% of the fee, which is equivalent to a one-semester fee.

Step 6 - Apply for a student visa

Beta College of Business and Technology now allows the students to apply for a student visa at this step. Upon receiving student visa, the student can now start attending classes and pay the remaining fee of the program.

If in the case study visa gets rejected, the college or university will refund the fee of the student after deducting some administration charges via any convenient method.

  • Do you have all the necessary documents if you are offered a seat in the program that you have applied for?
  • Do you understand that the language of instruction for all BETA College programs is English? Students applying to BETA College programs must have sufficient English language skills in order to fully participate in classroom lectures, assignments, discussions and examinations.
1. Who are regarded as International Student?
Student who are is resident or citizen of a country other than Canada is regarded as an International Student.
2. What is a designated Learning Institute (DLI)? Is BETA College authorized?
A designated learning institution is an institution approved by a provincial or territorial government to host international students. BETA College of Business and Technology – Toronto is authorized by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to accept and enroll international students. The designated learning institution number for BETA College is O124136581227.
3. How many campuses does BETA College have and where are they located?
BETA College has two campuses in the Greater Toronto Region, Province of Ontario, Canada. One in Toronto and another in Brampton.
4. Can I apply ONLINE?

YES, feel free to apply online using apply now link mentioned on our website. All the mandatory documents will have to be submitted which will be verified and approved by the Admissions Office. Once verified and approved, your registration process will begin.

Applications submitted by students from countries outside of Canada or by Canadian residents/ landed immigrants who are submitting international transcripts for evaluation should note that BETA College will only accept official notarized documents.

Documents that are submitted in a language other than English must have certified-translation, and a certified credential evaluator must assess all documents in order to be considered. Applications must also include a scanned copy of their up-to-date passport.

5. Is BETA College an registered, licensed institution?
YES, BETA College is registered with and regulated by the Ministry of training, colleges and Universities, Ontario, Canada. BETA College of Business and Technology in Ontario is registered as a career college under the Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005.
6. What about the institutional membership(s) of BETA College?
BETA College is a proud member of Career Colleges Ontario (CCO) and National Association of Career Colleges (NACC) since inception. This gives our students the comfort of knowing that our college is held to the highest standards of accountability and honesty.
7. Am I allowed to work while I Study?
YES! You are allowed to work 20 hours / week during academic sessions and full-time during session / scheduled breaks. For e.g. winter or summer breaks, spring or fall schedule breaks, etc.
8. What are mandatory documents required to apply for Full time Diploma programs?

You must be 18 years (completed) or above to apply for BETA College’s Diploma program. Given below are few of the mandatory documents required:

  • Duly filled application form
  • English Language requirements: IELTS (Candidates score at least 5.5 in each of the 4 categories with an overall minimum score of 6.0 and above).
  • Valid Passport copy
  • Academic Document – An Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent (12 years of formal studies), Grade transcript and associated documents.
  • Statement of purpose
9. What is a Study Permit?
All non-Canadian potential students must apply for a Study Permit to study in Canada. Study Permit is issued by the Canadian Embassy, Consulate, or High Commission office closest to your place of residence. Applications and further information are available from any Canadian Embassy office or from the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website.
10. What are the steps to apply for Study Permit?
  • Apply Online today
  • Upload all mandatory documents (maximum size should be 5 MB)
  • Application Assessment
  • Issuance of Official Letter of Offer (If you meet the criteria)
  • Pay your first semester of tuition and associated fees in full.
  • Collect receipt of your payment made
  • Apply for your Canadian Study Permit / VISA only through Canadian government approved channels.

Documents needed for Visa: Proof of Acceptance, Proof of Identity (Valid Passport, 2 photos), Proof of Financial Support, Letter of Explanation, and other documents as prescribed by the Visa Office. 11. When do Diploma courses generally commence at BETA College?
BETA College has 4 intakes in a year for International Students: January, April, July and October. BETA College has an Open Enrollment policy.
12. Is medical insurance mandatory?
It is advised and recommended that all international students get medical insurance coverage as the cost to visit the Doctor/Dentist and receiving medications is way costly. We request you to get yourself a medical insurance, it helps!
13. Can I apply for PGWP, once I graduate from PCC?
Students who complete their studies from Career Colleges (CC) are ineligible for Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP). For more details, please visit the official Canadian Immigration website.
14. What about accommodation for students?
Students are responsible to find their own accommodation as per their convenience. Please use your discretion and do your due diligence before you finalize your accommodation.
15. Can I start my program late?
On your Official Letter of Admission, we will indicate the expiry date of your letter of acceptance. No student will be permitted to enroll beyond the date indicated.
16. My Study Permit / Visa was denied. Can I reapply for the same?
You can receive a second official letter of acceptance from us. Fees may apply based on some conditions. There may be a possibility for you to reapply for your study permit / visa. Please contact our international student advisor for more information at info@betacollege.ca
17. Is the registration or the application fee refundable?
The registration or the application fee is NON-REFUNDABLE under any circumstances.
18. Is my Spouse eligible for an Open Work Permit?
Your spouse is not eligible for a Spousal Open Work Permit. For additional information regarding this change, please visit the IRCC website.
19. Will the reduction of study permits in 2024 impact my acceptance?
If you are accepted into a program and pay the tuition fees by the deadline mentioned in the Letter of Acceptance or before March 2024, your acceptance may be secured. However, it’s important to note that the new announcements made in January and March 2024 could potentially impact your acceptance.
20. What is a PAL?
Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced on January 22, 2024, that a provincial attestation letter (PAL) would be required for most new study permit applications. The Government of Ontario now has a PAL process in place.
21. Who needs a PAL?
With some exceptions, all new international students are required to submit a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) with their study permit application. Currently, IRCC has not allocated PALs to BETA College.
22. I do not require a PAL. Do I need to do anything else?
If you do not require a PAL, the college will ask for proof of PAL exemptions such as your study permit, work permit, proof of relationship, etc.
23. What is the refund policy of BETA College?
A full tuition fee refund (minus the CAD 500 administrative fee and the applicable Bank/financial institution(s) charges) will be granted if IRCC does not issue the study permit, or there is a denial. To obtain a refund, submit documents within twenty (20) calendar days of the original refusal letter. 24. I changed my mind and want to apply for another program, is it possible?
Sure, feel free to change the program / course until you have not received your Office Letter of Offer / Acceptance from the college. Fees will be applied for the changes requested if the Letter of Offer / Acceptance has already been issued. Please contact our Support Office at info@betacollege.ca
25. The Canadian Study Permit is now issued to me... What Next?
Congratulations! You are now ready to make your travel plans. You should plan to arrive one to two weeks prior to the start of classes so that you can settle in and get to know Toronto and the College before you embark on an exciting adventure and we wish you both a culturally rewarding experience and academic success!
