Diploma in Automation Technology is designed to prepare students to meet the demand in industrial plants for maintenance, improvements, enhancement, and creation of machinery used in modern production environments. On completion of the program, students will be able to troubleshoot, modify processes, improve operator interfaces, optimize productivity, enhance safety features, and add new processes using PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs in industrial machinery control systems.
Students will learn how to install, configure, wire, and program PLC, HMI, and VFD systems using supporting devices such as switches, sensors, and other control components. As part of this program, students will gain hands-on experience solving real-world automation problems in lab-based learning environments.
Graduates of this program would be able to find employment as automation technicians and process control equipment mechanics in processing, power generation, mining, petrochemical and natural gas, industrial instrumentation, and other manufacturing establishments.
Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
If you are above 18 years of age and do not have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma, you must successfully complete the Wonderlic SLE with a minimum score of 20.

Through the Diploma in Automation Technology program, students will gain the knowledge required to build a rewarding career in the automation field. This program focuses on automated systems, which are at the heart of advanced manufacturing and other industry sectors.
The courses emphasize the basic technologies used in building and operating automated industrial systems, including programmable logic controllers, servo motors with drive controllers, and HMI programming. Students will gain theoretical knowledge as well as practical, hands-on laboratory experience. Prior knowledge of electrical systems is an added advantage.
