Student Discipline Policy

1. Purpose

Beta College of Business and Technology is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, inclusive, and academically focused learning environment. This Student Discipline Policy establishes standards of student conduct and outlines the procedures the College follows when addressing misconduct.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all domestic and international students across all campuses, online, hybrid, and in-person delivery modes. It also covers the BETA Hive ERP/LMS platform, College-sponsored activities, and all official College communication channels.

3. Standards of Student Conduct

Students are expected to:

  • Act professionally and respectfully at all times.
  • Comply with all academic, attendance, and administrative policies.
  • Maintain academic integrity.
  • Respect faculty, staff, peers, and visitors.
  • Use College technology systems responsibly.
  • Follow all applicable laws and regulatory requirements.

4. Academic Misconduct

  • Includes plagiarism, cheating, and unauthorized collaboration.
  • Includes fabrication or falsification of assignments.
  • Includes impersonation and unauthorized sharing of examination content.
  • Penalties may include grade reduction, assignment failure, suspension, or expulsion.

5. Behavioural Misconduct

  • Harassment, discrimination, or bullying.
  • Threatening, abusive, or disruptive behaviour.
  • Unauthorized recording of classes.
  • Damage to College property.
  • Inappropriate conduct during online or in-person sessions.

6. Administrative Misconduct

  • Providing false or misleading information to the College.
  • Failure to comply with attendance requirements.
  • Account sharing or unauthorized system access.
  • Tampering with academic or attendance records.

7. Progressive Discipline

  • Discipline is proportionate to the severity of the misconduct.
  • Measures include: Verbal Warning, Written Warning, Academic Penalty, Suspension, and Expulsion.
  • Serious misconduct may result in immediate expulsion without prior warning.

8. Investigation Procedure

  • Matters are reviewed by the Program Coordinator and/or Academic Director.
  • Students are notified in writing and provided an opportunity to respond.
  • A written decision is issued after the evidence is reviewed.
  • Access to facilities may be restricted during an active investigation.

9. Expulsion

  • May occur for serious academic dishonesty, fraud, violence, or repeated violations.
  • A formal written decision will be issued.
  • Financial implications follow the College’s Fee Refund Policy.
  • Regulatory reporting will occur where legally required.

10. Appeals

  • Written appeals must be submitted within 5 business days of a decision.
  • Must state grounds for appeal and include supporting documentation.
  • Reviewed by senior administration not previously involved; decisions are final.

11. Confidentiality

  • All disciplinary matters are handled confidentially in accordance with privacy policies.
  • Information is shared only on a need-to-know basis or as required by law.

12. Policy Review

  • This policy is reviewed periodically to ensure compliance.
  • The most current version is always published on the College website.
